The editors of ASAP/Journal seek a Reviews Editor for coordinating exhibition and book reviews. ASAP/Journal is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal that explores new developments in post-1960s visual, media, literary, and performance arts. The scholarly publication of ASAP: The Association for the Study of the Arts of the Present, ASAP/Journal promotes intellectual exchange between artists and critics across the arts and humanities. The print journal (https://www.press.jhu.edu/journals/asapjournal) is available to members of ASAP, via direct subscription, and through Project MUSE. Reviews and review essays appear on the journal’s open-access, online platform, ASAP/J (www.asapjournal.com). The successful candidate will have some experience in print and/or electronic publishing, and should have an active interest in scholarship relating to the contemporary arts, as well as a familiarity with the mission of ASAP (http://www.artsofthepresent.org/about/).
The primary task of a Reviews Editor is to collaborate with the journal’s other editors to supervise the assignment of book and exhibition reviews to qualified reviewers, to ensure the expedient distribution of review copies to reviewers, and to maintain editorial oversight of the published reviews in our WordPress site. This is a volunteer position, though benefits will include membership in ASAP and a discounted registration rate at ASAP conferences and symposia.
Interested applicants should submit a brief cover letter addressed to the Editors of ASAP/Journal and ASAP/J with a recent CV and two references (names and email addresses will suffice) in electronic form to asapjeditors@gmail.com by March 5, 2021.
