- On Thursday night, the filmmakers Edgar Arcenaux and Kevin Jerome Evanson screened and discussed their work with the film scholar Michael B. Gillespie at the Pacific Film Archive.
- On Friday night, the novelist Rachel Kushner talked about the ways the literary and visual arts intersect with the art historian Julia Bryan-Wilson at the Oakland Museum of California.

ASAP/9 was our first conference without a theme beyond the discussion of the contemporary arts, and it had approximately 400 attendees.
